This
is what stockbrokers are for! You'll need a
stockbroker to take care of the buying and selling of
your stocks. You can even tell them to buy or sell
a particular stock when it hits a certain price.
You'll have to pay your stockbroker for each transaction
-- you can get deals for $4-$7 on the Internet.
Stock
Exchanges:
This is where the buying and
selling of stocks take place.
NYSE =
New York Stock Exchange (http://www.nyse.com)
"The Big Board"
This is the biggest stock exchange in the U.S. and
usually the one you hear about in the news. It's
been around since 1792! This IS Wall Street, baby!
ASE =
American Stock Exchange (http://www.amex.com)
This is the second largest national stock exchange and
usually lists companies that are too small to get listed
on the NYSE.
NASDAQ
= National Association of Securities Dealers Automated
Quotations system (http://www.nasdaq.com)
You can
search for a good discount stock broker using our Google "safe
search" option. Or you can search for a different
topic on Finance FREAK. A new window will open
with your results.
